Plan the Perfect Nursery
Three Tips for Nursery Design
Once you have an idea of what you want your nursery to look like, it’s time to get down to business:
- Measure the room, the windows and even the door openings so you can make a rough sketch of the room on graph paper (let five squares stand for one foot, or whatever works with your dimensions).
- Start sketching in your main furniture pieces. Try to keep the crib near the door, the changing table near the crib (so you don’t have to carry a leaking diaper across the room), and your rocking chair near a window. You can also sketch out a side-view of the room, visualizing how you want any wallpaper, nursery wall stencils, or color blocking to look.
- Finally, get the room painted and wallpapered and give it time to dry before you start shopping.
