Plan the Perfect Nursery

The Best Part – Shopping!

Furniture: If you’re thinking about buying a complete furniture collection (crib, changing table and dresser), try to resist the temptation unless it all fits with your theme. Instead, your modern crib might be best complemented by a bold-colored change table as a statement piece. Or maybe you want more flexibility in the room and might be better off buying a dresser instead of a change table (you can just secure a change pad to the top until your child is out of diapers).

No matter what you choose, just don’t forget to match up the measurements of the furniture you buy to the measurements you made on your sketch to be sure any given piece isn’t too big or too small for the room.

Storage: Also, think about storage solutions when you’re shopping. Does the changing table offer extra drawers? Will you need a separate dresser if you don’t have a closet? Shelving near the change table with storage baskets can be handy if you’re short on space (especially when it comes to storing diaper cream, wash clothes and other baby essentials).

Décor: When it comes to finishing touches, colorful wall art, linens, drapery and a rug (also great for tummy time!) add warmth and interest to the room.
