Looks like avoiding peanut butter may not be the best option – even for babies with a high risk of developing peanut allergies. A new study published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that early introduction of peanuts dramatically decreases the risk of developing a peanut allergy.

Rising Rates of Peanut Allergies

The prevalence of peanut allergies amongst children in Western countries has doubled in the past decade. Peanut allergies are also increasing in other countries such as Asia and Africa. This study aimed to find an effective strategy in preventing the development of peanut allergies.
